1. Iowa Young Writers' Studio

The Iowa Young Writers' Studio is a creative writing program for high school students at the University of Iowa, housed in the Magid Center for Writing. The Studio gives promising high school-age creative writers the opportunity to share their writing with teachers and peers, receive constructive critique, and develop their craft. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in writing exercises and activities and attend readings and other literary events.

The Iowa Young Writers’ Studio offers a 2 two-week summer Residential Program that runs in both in-person and online formats! The Iowa Young Writers' Studio also offers 6 week online courses every summer and winter.

2. Kenyon Young Writers Workshop

At Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshops, talented high school students from around the world join a dynamic and supportive literary community to stretch their talents, discover new strengths, and challenge themselves in the company of peers who are also passionate about writing. There are several workshops for student's convenience, the list is below:

Winter Online Workshops: Workshops focused on a specific genre, topic, or craft element meet online once a week for six weeks.

Summer Residential Workshops: Multi-genre workshops meet for two weeks on the picturesque Kenyon College campus.

3. Sarah Lawrence College Virtual Writers’ Week

The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College has welcomed writers to a robust and supportive community with workshops, classes, seminars, conferences, readings, and more. Their virtual and on-campus classes are open to all writers, including classes for beginners, advanced prose and poetry workshops, teen programs, and publishing seminars.

A week-long, intense summer program called Sarah Lawrence Writers Week for Teens encourages high school students to experiment with many forms of creative writing. The program typically requires an application form, which may include a writing sample, to assess the student's interest and potential fit. Since it is a competitive program, applying early and submitting strong creative work can improve a student’s chances.
